Community

Cafe Saint Ex is a neighborhood restaurant with strong and growing ties to the community. In addition to serving the community as a restaurant and bar, we also celebrate our neighborhood with several fundraisers each year. Be sure to compete, eat, donate, and most of all have fun with us as we help our community grow and florish.

After a four-week kitchen expansion, Café Saint-Ex has reopened with a more exciting menu than ever, full of flavorful, creative, new dishes and a brand new four-course tasting menu.

With a larger kitchen and more room to experiment, Chef Billy Klein has been playing around with different flavors and textures to show off his creativity in the kitchen. Saint-Ex’s new 4-course Tasting Menu will change often and include two appetizers, an entrée and dessert for $49. Plates range from some of the new dishes on the menu to dishes created specifically for the tasting menu experience. Guests will also be sent home with a special hand-packaged treat from pastry chef Alison Reed.

Starting Monday, July 25th, Saint-Ex is temporarily closing its kitchen for three weeks to make way for an expanded new kitchen.Never allowing our guests to go hungry (or thirsty), we are launching a creative BBQ Bar featuring a rotating menu of pulled pork sandwich flights, introducing Brews-and-Booze menu, and hosting Pop-Up Patio Picnics on Mother Nature's finer days.

Executive Chef, Billy Klein will be serving up flights of savory BBQ sandwiches ranging from traditional to korean to carolina style. In addition to savory food, diners can cool down with an assortment of homemade ice creams courtesy of Pastry Chef Alison Reed.

On nice days, we will host Pop-Up Patio Picnics on our popular patio. Chef Klein will be grilling up favorites like burgers, sausage, ribs, and steaks. Guests can also graze on hot and cold housemade summer sides like potato salad, grilled vegetables, and more.

Just beacause the kitchen is closed doesnt mean our beloved bar won't still be in full swing. Mixologist Jonathan Fain will be lauching an all new Beercentric cocktail menu.

We hope to see you in to share with us some summer favorites!!

Our 3rd annual Memorial Day Chili Cook Off was a huge success! With your help we raised $8,000 for Ross Elementary!
Our competitors this year were:
Masa14, Bar Pilar, Local 16, Vinoteca, The Copper Pot, Cork, Mandu, Kushi, EatWellDC, Commissary
First Place went to Cork
Second Place to The Copper Pot
Most Unique to Mandu
Set with the difficult (and gut-busting) task of selecting a winner out of our talented competitors were our equally talented judges:
Amanda McClements-Metrocurean, Alejandra Owens-Borderstan, Josh Gibson-Educated Eats
Hosting fundraising events is not an easy or cheap task, but with help from our wonderful sponsors the Memorial Day Chili Cook Off was an amazing event.
Special thanks to Balance Gym, The JGB Company, Vida Fitness, Quality Dental Center, Barmetrix, Borderstan, Louis Photography, Clean Currents, U Street Association, Miss Pixies, Flowers on 14th, New Signature, Electrical Network, TD Bank, and Ace Hardware
